“We're really thankful we got this house. It's so pretty, right on the lake, and we just love being in Carrollton. It really has changed our lives in a very unexpected way, it was not part of our plan at all. It's been a great adventure for us to be out here and to get to be a part of a new community, different lifestyle, a nice house.”
These words come from Sandra Bemis, a satisfied client of The Zachos Team. Sandra and her husband Rick worked with us on the purchase of their current home, a beautiful lakeside property in Carrollton, Georgia. However, the deal wasn’t a walk in the park; with multiple offers from other hopeful buyers, this house was in high demand.
“[Paul] helped us get this lake house. It was kind of during the time where there was a bidding war,” Sandra explains. “It was the start of that. And we just told him, tell us what to do and we'll do it. And he told us what to do and we did it, and we got the house.”
“Dee Dee just stayed on the communication with the selling agent,” she says. “She kept in constant contact with her to make sure she was getting her paperwork, just following through with everything. So I think that really helped a lot too.”
“There were actually nine offers on it,” Rick adds. “We really, really wanted it and they told us exactly what to do. We just followed their directions and we wound up getting it.”
In cases like these, it’s important to have a realtor that will keep things running smoothly throughout the process.
“In this particular case, the seller got cold feet because all of these neighbors were giving him a hard time for not letting them know that the house was for sale, and he sort of intimated that maybe he wasn't going to sell us the house,” Rick says. “Things got anxiety-provoking, and I think your parents are very good at calming us down as buyers when things go wrong.”
It’s also important to pick a realtor who will always have your best interests in mind. Although it wasn’t officially a transaction through The Zachos Team, Sandra and Rick credit us for helping them with another purchase as well.
“So we were looking at another house in Carrollton…Paul had showed it to us. When he pulled out of the driveway, he called me and said ‘there's another house for sale by owner down the street, so call them and find out about it.’ So we did, and we ended up buying that house. Paul didn't sell it to us, but he definitely had a part in it, because I'm not sure we would have seen it if it hadn't been for him,” Sandra says.
“Right,” Rick adds. “He helped us out even though it wasn't going to help him.”
That focus on the benefit of our clients is core to the mission of The Zachos Team. Even in situations where it may not benefit us directly, you can be certain that we’ll go the extra mile to get our clients the success they deserve.
“[Paul] just wants to help. He doesn't play the role of a salesman in my opinion, so much as somebody who's trying to inform you as a buyer and help you get what you want,” Rick says. “Paul calling us after we looked at a house that was not going to work out for us is what actually got us this second house that we wound up turning into an Airbnb. We spent a year fixing it and now Sandra is running it, and none of that would have happened had [he] not been kind enough to call us.”
If you’re looking to find your dream home in the Georgia or eastern Alabama areas, contact The Zachos Team today and see how we can help you just as we’ve helped Sandra and Rick. With us on your side, you’ll always have someone you can trust guiding you through the process. Rick’s final thoughts sum it all up.
“If they had not been in our lives, we wouldn't have found this house. And we also wouldn't have found the other house that we just renovated and turned into a successful Airbnb. They're good people.”
