Spotlight on Cobb County

Cobb County holds its own as a staple of the Metro-Atlanta Area. Located just outside the perimeter, Cobb encompasses heavy hitters like Marietta, Smyrna, and Kennesaw, which each hold a variety of attractions. Here are a few of those.

The Battery is a brand-new development located just outside of Smyrna, and a favorite of The Zachos Team. It is fully integrated around Truist Park, the home of the Atlanta Braves. The Battery serves as an outdoor shopping center and entertainment district, offering visitors a variety of shops, restaurants, and even a concert hall. Grab a bite at Wahlburgers, a drink at the Punch Bowl Social, and even a round of video games at Battle and Brew. All of this can be experienced in addition to the numerous events nearby, like concerts at the Coca-Cola Roxy or, of course, an Atlanta Braves game at their home stadium. This sounds like a lot to do in one day, and rightfully so; because of this, The Battery holds several hotels for overnight visits. There is also a rising corporate presence in and around the Battery, with several companies and office spaces opening their doors just blocks away from all of the entertainment mentioned above. If you get lucky, you could even find yourself working in this coveted location.

Another key entertainment district is Marietta Square, one of many historic town squares in Georgia. The center of Marietta Square holds a fountain, gazebo, and plenty of green space, making for a nice place to take the whole family outside. The surrounding blocks have over thirty restaurants, meaning you’ll always have somewhere new to grab dinner, in addition to plenty of shops and boutiques. For history buffs, Marietta Square was the site of the start of the Great Locomotive Chase during the Civil War; the nearby Marietta History Center covers this information. Speaking of museums, there are several more just blocks away from Marietta Square, the most prominent being the Marietta Cobb Museum of Art. Others include the Marietta Fire Museum, the Old Zion Heritage Museum, and the William Root House Museum and Garden.

Marietta also holds Six Flags White Water, a rip-roaring water park filled with pools and slides for all ages. Race your friends on giant water slides, adventure together in one of many exciting raft rides, or lay back and relax in the lazy river. Day passes are available, but you can buy season passes for this park which apply for Six Flags Over Georgia, too. That means you can have two world-class theme parks at your disposal.

In nearby Kennesaw, one of the main draws is the Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park. Recognized by the National Park Service, this park holds a key Civil War battleground, preserving its history through monuments, historic houses, and a documentary with accurate recreations of the battle. Civil War buffs will not want to miss this incredible site located right in the heart of Cobb County.

Kennesaw also promotes plenty of regular public events, many taking place courtesy of Kennesaw State University. One event open to the public is the Big Shanty Festival, a street festival offering food, beer, and hundreds of arts and crafts booths. This festival takes place right in the heart of Downtown Kennesaw, where the new Piedmont Bank Amphitheater has just opened up. You can get an early start on what is sure to be a huge hit in the town of Kennesaw by visiting this area.

As if that wasn’t enough, Cobb County also encompasses Smyrna, a hotspot just outside the Atlanta perimeter. A major draw here is the Smyrna Market Village, which makes up its downtown district. Similar to The Battery, Smyrna Market Village is a walkable shopping and entertainment district, but it lies in a quieter area for those who may not always want to be right in the middle of the action. This area is fully integrated with rows of townhomes, meaning you have the chance to walk into this area right from your front door.

With all of this in mind, it’s easy to see why Cobb County is a prime location within the Greater Atlanta Area. The Zachos Team can help you find property here no matter what your needs may be. If you’re ready to get started, call us today.
