Coweta County, located southwest of Atlanta, is a hidden gem of rural Georgia. While it may not have the bustle of a big city, it more than makes up for it in history and modern flair. The Zachos Team is proud to operate in Coweta County, and we’d like to tell you all about what there is to do here.
Perhaps The Zachos Team’s favorite attraction in Coweta County is the bevy of The Walking Dead filming locations throughout Senoia. As huge fans of the show, we were thrilled to learn just how close many of the iconic sets were located. Woodbury, the Alexandria Safe Zone, and Hilltop are all located just miles apart, and Senoia itself was used as the location for Woodbury. You can visit the town where The Governor enacted his reign of terror on your own or with a tour group, which will shuttle you around to see different sights. The other sights are a bit harder to see; Hilltop was built on a studio set nearby and can’t be accessed. Alexandria can be, but it’s mostly a normal neighborhood now. Still, it’s exciting to be able to spend time in the locations that made up such a groundbreaking television show.
Newnan is the county seat, and as with many Georgia towns, the walkable downtown is a draw for anyone. Plenty of shops, restaurants, and greenspace dot the streets, and ample street parking ensures that you and your family can stop anywhere you wish. There are several museums, murals, and historic sites as well, ensuring interesting sights no matter where you decide to go close to the town square.
Ashley Park is another staple of the downtown Newnan area, a sprawling shopping center for a more refined palate with offerings like department stores, dessert options, a movie theater and more. It’s the perfect close-to-home destination to get some R&R after a long week without having to plan a big trip.
However, if you do want some excitement, Urban Air Trampoline Park is the place to be. It’s far more than just trampolines; Urban Air hosts individuals, families, and even entire birthday parties with attractions like obstacle courses, dodgeball, climbing walls, Virtual Reality games, a ropes course, and even a Wipeout competition. There’s truly something for everyone here, and it’s located right inside Ashley Park near all of the other amenities. You can once again have an exhilarating attraction right next to your house, or just a place to drop off the kids while you do some shopping.
Just half an hour away from Newnan is Chattahoochee Bend State Park, one of Georgia’s premier outdoor offerings. As one of Georgia’s largest state parks, it holds nearly three thousand acres of woodlands and riverside delights. As with many state parks, camping is an option, and that includes riverfront campsites as well as RV hookups and even Adirondack shelters. A boat ramp allows a streamlined experience to getting your chosen watercraft into the river, and plenty of riverside land allows for fishing access from just about anywhere. Miles of hiking trails through the park provide plenty more to do even outside of waterfront fun.
