Paulding County, located a ways away from Atlanta, still offers plenty of potential to those willing to give it a look. It is located just above I-20 and west of Marietta; The Zachos Team loves how it leaves you close to many of the attractions of these towns while keeping you away from the city life if you so desire. Paulding County has its own draws, though; here are a few of those.
Perhaps the most unique draw of the county is Pickett’s Mill Battlefield, a well-preserved Civil War historical site. The area functions as a state park, which grants all of the expected amenities of one, but also offers educational exhibits and an annual re-enactment of the battle. There are other events throughout the year as well, which could provide for repeat trips if you live in the area. A group shelter is available to reserve, so you can even take the whole family out for a weekend of fun.
Close by is High Shoals Falls, another notable landmark in the outskirts of Paulding County. A 2.5 mile hike will take you to not one, but two beautiful waterfalls nestled within the wilderness. It’s a perfect day trip for those who love the outdoors, and the relatively moderate trails mean you won’t have to be an experienced hiker to enjoy the beauty found here.
Another draw in the rural areas is Three Strands Vineyard and Winery, a family-owned operation that is home to wine tasting, tours of the facility, live music, and more. Bring your family to the vineyard for a unique outing, or host a corporate event there. Either way, Three Strands is a unique experience for the area, and wine lovers especially will enjoy being there.
For manmade attractions, Downtown Dallas offers all the trappings one would expect from a historic district. Shopping and restaurants dot the main street of town, letting you have a small town experience far from the crowds of Atlanta. There’s also the Dallas Theater, which has regular showings of different live performances. You can also find audition workshops and casting calls for local performances here, for experienced actors or those who just want to dip their toes into the performing arts.
Paulding County also houses a section of the Silver Comet Trail, with multiple trailheads close to downtown Dallas and Hiram. This famous multi-use trail stretches across the western side of Georgia, and connects many of the towns there. Within Paulding County, one can see many interesting sights such as the Thomas Concrete Plant and Pumpkinvine Trestle, and even sections of the Paulding Forest Wildlife Management Area. You can walk, run, or bike your way through the county from several different entry points, letting you experience the beauty of Northwestern Georgia from just about anywhere.
Paulding Forest, as mentioned above, is a wildlife area that connects to the Silver Comet Trail, but it’s much more than that. This wilderness and hunting property spans over twenty-five thousand acres, making it the largest WMA with close proximity to Atlanta. Explore the great outdoors and experience nature through lakes, woodlands, and camping facilities.
With so much to offer, Paulding County is a natural choice for nature lovers and history buffs. The Zachos Team is happy to help you find real estate in Paulding County; if you’re interested, reach out to us today.
